Ministerial Libraries had their quarterly information awareness & Advocacy day on the 14th June 2018, hosted by the National Planning Commission Library.
Mr Mutonga, Director of Administration gave the welcoming remarks and the event was officially opened by the keynote speaker Mrs Sarah Negumbo, Director of NLAS.
According to the librarian of the National Planning Commission, Ms Winnie Ndemufao, based on the observations and reviews of the monthly statistics generated by the specialised libraries, library resources have not been optimally used hence, the event was an intervention to help improve the situation on the perceptions of library usage by staff members.
This was done together with other Librarians from different ministries as follows: Ministry of Agriculture water & forestry, Ministry of Environment & Tourism, Ministry of Gender & Equality, Ministry of Mines & Energy, Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources, Ministry of Works & Transport, National Meteorological Services, Katutura Intermediate Hospital Library, National Museum, College of the Arts, Ministry of Education Arts & Culture as well as The Supreme Court of Namibia.
The Hon. Minister Obeth Kandjoze was also in support of the initiative and joined the event.
NPC staff members and other Government officials have shown great support and willingly participated in the event.
