H.E. Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Namibia pays courtesy call to Hon.Obeth Mbuipaha Kandjoze

Yesterday,February 11th,2021,H.E. Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Namibia, paid a courtesy call to Hon.Obeth Mbuipaha Kandjoze,Director General of the National Planning Commission.   At the onset,H.E. Ambassador Pratignyo, extended appreciation on behalf of the people of Indonesia to the people of Namibia for the cordial relations between the States spanning 3 decades.  

H.E. Ambassador Pratignyo also indicated that he was eager to gain a better appreciation of the Namibian economy and the dynamics thereof. Refererncing the State Visit undertaken by His Excellency President Geingob in 2018, Ambassador Pratignyo reiterated that Indonesia was ready to engage Namibia on possible investments in social housing infrastructure.   Welcoming his guest,Hon.Kandjoze comprehensively elucidated the dynamics around the Namibian economy especially the key economic priorities as encapsulated in the country’s Fifth National Development Plan such as Agriculture,Logistics,Mining,Transportation.  

Furthermore,Hon.Kandjoze explained that the Namibian Government is steadfastly ceased with addressing the social housing challenge and that addressing it ,with Development Partners such as Indonesia, would aid the country’s efforts reducing the risk of water borne diseases and other undesirable living conditions currently faced by some segments of the populace.   He added that Namibia had identified Agriculture as one the basic enablers for addressing socio-economic challenges while also boosting food security. Hon.Kandjoze indicated that the State Visit to Indonesia, undertaken in 2018, demonstrated potential opportunities for lessons sharing given the substantial investments the Indonesian Givernment had deployed in Agricultural Colleges to boost horticultural production as well as other essential agro commodities.  

In closing,Hon.Kandjoze registered the N.P.C’s willingness to further engage Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency for sharing of best practices in national economic planning. The courtesy call closed with H.E.Ambassador Pratignyo presenting a gift to Hon.Kandjoze.
